Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 NIV
If you have Kids...you have stress. There is no stopping it. But you can slow it down some. Being home together 24 hours a day 7 days a week can be trying for us all. Add home schooling, animals, chores, and huge age differences and you have a recipe for stress over load. I found I got tired of hearing my own voice..." who left this here?" "whose day is it to ____?" "Did you do what you were told?" " Didnt I tell you that is not ok?" and on and on and on...blah blah blah...gripe!gripe! gripe!...I am convinced the kids no longer hear me...as a matter of fact I think I am tuning myself out lol.. Im correcting, reminding, redirecting, complaining, yelling, and pointing that finger all the time....something had to change! Something has to give. On my way grocery shopping...a rare moment to myself..I talked to God about it...I wanted change..I wanted less stress...less griping, but mostly I wanted my kids to care enough to make changes in themselves as well...So here is what God and I came up with (wink). To remind the kids once what is expected of them...to make sure they understand the consequences of not obeying...and here's the clicker...here's the thing we all, as parents fail at...We must follow through. My 15 year old told me once that the reason they slack is that we slack...we don't follow through...But God directs me to one more thing....to teach them more fully about Him...as the children grow closer to God they are closer to following through on their responsibilities ..when it becomes about them and their relationship with God...things change..I know this my experience. When my relationship is strong..when I'm in His Word, I pray more. When I pray more, I feel stronger, more able to handle things, calmer. I'm more willing to do things I don't feel like doing, because its the right thing to do. Like Laundry lol. I know this by my own experience...Now its time to teach that to my kids...
