This life is not about you! Its about knowing Jesus and living for Him.
Our children were never taught this simple truth. Life began all about them. They cry we feed them we change their diaper, we sing, play or rock them, it is all about them, or so it seems. But once they grow up we should begin teaching them to share, be kind, be unselfish,to care about others to have compassion..instead they are selfish and self centered, rude and disrespectful. While teaching computers at our local public school, my sons constant irritation was the politics of school and the disrespect of the kids...neither supported education, neither allowed the teacher to be in charge..to teach,to inspire...Both keep the hands of good teachers tied. Kids are being raised with no manners, no respect, to care only about self. Where do you think they learn that from? Its time...past time we parents step up to the plate and teach our children this simple truth.. Life is not about them,..its about Living for Christ who died for them. But how ? By example...We must live every moment as if it IS for Christ...our every thought, word and movement will reflect our relationship to Him. If you come short..then your relationship has come short..Work on your life, your relationship with Christ and begin to coax your kids to do the same...The ol' idea, "do as I say not what I do"..has never worked...it will never work...kids are not wired that way...They watch and listen and learn..In order for us to grow closer to Him, Our heavenly Father leads by example and His words leads by example...
"Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word" Luke 1:38
Mary was a young women, pledged to be married...yet she, without hesitation excepted the gift God was about to place on her. Pregnancy out of wed lock was a stoning offense, Yet she did not waver.
"After His mother was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of t eHoly Spirit." Matthew 1:18
"Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the lord commanded him and took him his wife. " V 24
The she was asked to travel when the baby was due any time.
"So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered" Luke 2:6
Then she was to give birth to her baby in a manger..a barn..!
"And she gave birth to her first born son, She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. " Luke 2:7
She then had to flee with her baby to save his life....
"take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod s to search for the child to kill him." Matthew 2:13
Mary endured a lot but she knew the secret.... it wasn't about her. It was knowing the Father and doing his will...it was about living for Him.
Mary showed her love and devotion to God...her every word, every step showed she not only believed in God but trusted him in every thing she did...
I can not imagine how it must have felt to know you have given birth to a baby who will grow up to be the King..who would give his life for Our sins..
Mary was given a incredible task...was asked to give up so much..to give so much..She was an ordinary girl...with a extra ordinary relationship with God...
She knew the secret....
This life is not about you...its about knowing Jesus and living for Him.
While reading a magazine, I came across an article that made me laugh. It was a picture of a junk yard with a rose bush growing from the center of an old tire thrown to the side. The article was about looking past the annoyances of our spouse to see the "rose bush" Looking close at the picture I saw old tires, (yep, have those) Old cut pieces of board ( oh yah.. a bunch) A few old rusty cars that dont run..( dont even get me started) .. Yes the picture could be our farm lol...When we came to look at this place the owner pointed to a few piles of this and that..he said " we call that inventory." I thought it was cute until that inventory was mine..now I just see it as junk. I dont know about your spouse, but mine likes to collect things..Free things ( please no phone calls lol) ..He always says he might need it some day. So in reading this article I sat and thought about my husbands "roses".
He is compassionate and caring. He adores me in spite of me. He is a great dad and now grandpa. He is fun to be around and has a child like sense of humor that I love. Although there are plenty of opportunities to find fault ..we should spend more of our time Smiling at the roses
