I have been reading a lot lately on healing the gut of our goats. Worm load damages the intestinal lining of the animal. We need to help repair this damage. Once worm load is taken care of..we still have work to do.. here a few ideas to try on your herd..
50/50 mix of organic raw honey and cinnamon given several times throughout the day for several days..or until the goat is eating and gaining weight well. Suggestion for a kid goat is to mix a teaspoon of each and wipe a bit on babies tongue several times through out the day. Give this amount daily until stomach troubles clear up. Will destroy yeast and bacteria, provide iron and vitamins, cleans the digestive track, and helps clear ulcers. for adults try 1 tablespoon of each.
Tummy Tamer is very helpful for the digestive track...mix 1/2 teaspoon EACH...ginger, cinnamon, Cayenne pepper, molasses, ACV..add enough water to make 20-30 cc and drench. Give a few times a day while dealing with tummy issues
Carrot and celery juice: while this does not necessarily deal with the damage intestines, it does provide much needed nutrients in an easy to digest juice... Carrots are high in Vit C, K and E, also in calcium, potassium Celery has B1,B2,B6 and vit c as well as has potassium, calcium , magnesium, iron, folic acid and amino acid...when a goat is low on calcium, having prolapse problems or a little blood in milk due to calcium needs or just needs a healthy boost ...its a good healthy way to add a boost of needed nutrients in a very usable way
Colostrum has been used with success to heal leaking gut in humans. By feeding 1 oz 3 times a day it maybe helpful to help restore gut health in goats. Goat or cow colostrum is fine.
You can add fresh garlic cloves to this for added immune boosting : )
