Not all molasses are the same...I have had my facts backward as to how its made..thinking light molasses has been heavily processed when in fact its the first boil. Its light and sweet flavor with very little nutrients..
When using Molasses in electrolytes, Tummy tamer or the 50/50 for Ketosis...Choose Black Strap molasses, if offers more of what the goat needs and not just empty calories
Blackstrap is made from the third and final boiling of the molasses.
Its not normally used for cooking as its less sweet, with very strong taste and bitter bite. Blackstrap molasses is high in nutrients like calcium and iron. It is considered the healthiest of all molasses since it retains the most vitamins and minerals. It has long been used by the health food industry as a nutritional additive
Dark Molassas comes from the second boiling process and retains the nice dark color and much of the sweetness and trace amounts of goodness
Light molasses comes from the first boil and has a sweet mild flavor, favored by many cooks..while great for sweetening goats water, if offers very little more.
Feed Grade Molasses is basically garbage..whats left over..I wouldn’t choose this to feed my goats..
